Scheduled Hikes:

July 13th - Big Creek State Park, 8:30am

Near Lake Cushman ( Hood Canal). Upper Big Creek Loop is moderate. 4.7 miles and areas can be steep. 1,099ft elevation 2 hr. 30 min. There is an easier trail ( 4.3 mile loop with 850ft. elevation). The trail goes clockwise through the forests surrounding Big Creek. Meet Up: 8:30 AM Park at Total Wine at Capital Mall for carpooling.


July 27th (Bonus Hike) 
We were hoping to go to Mt. Rainier to see the wildflowers, however there is no availability for car reservations for any weekend the rest of the summer. If anyone is interested in hiking in Mt. Rainier during the week, please let me know and maybe we can reserve a car or two. 
Evergreen Beach Trail Olympia   Meet at Total Wine in Capital Mall at 8:30 am for carpooling. This is an easy 1.6 mile out and back trail. 226 ft elevation and takes an average of 45 minutes complete. 

August 10th
Millersylvania near Tenino. Meet at Total Wine in Capital Mall at 8:30 am for carpooling. An easy (mostly flat) 4.6 mile loop hike through the forest. 196 ft. elevation gain . 1 hour 30 minutes. Dogs welcome on the trail.

Aug 24th (Bonus Hike) 
Tolmie State Park Four Cedars Outer Loop   Meet at Total Wine in Capital Mall at 8:30 am for carpooling. This is a 1.8 mile moderate loop trail. 226 ft elevation. 45 minutes. Discover Pass required. There is also an easy out and back Tolmie Beach Trail .3 miles and 13 tf elevation.

Sept 14th
Mima Mounds Trail in Capital Forest Olympia. Meet at Total Wine at 8:30 am for carpooling. An easy 2.6 mile loop tail through natural prairie of puzzling mounds. 29 ft elevation. 46 minutes. There are also unpaved side trails. No Dogs

Oct 12th  
Staircase Loop outside Hoodsport. Meet at Total Wine at 8:30 am for carpooling. This is an easy 2.1 mile loop through forest with river views. 213 ft. elevation. 49 minutes. We’ll turn around at the beautiful Suspension Bridge.

If you are looking for authentic and meaningful conversation while hiking- that’s the goal. Every month the Unity Hiking group will plan a brisk less than 5-mile walking hike in the Puget Sound area that incorporates prayer, guided walking meditation, and other topics/ activities that help foster genuine connection and intellectual stimulation.

Please feel free to participate even if you do not want to hike. Bring a foldable chair and enjoy nature. We just ask you to use the buddy system and not be alone.
From now on, no RSVP needed. Hikes will start at the designated time.

  • Physical: When you feel physically rejuvenated, you naturally feel more uplifted on a mental and spiritual level. Walking on different terrains, pushing through steep inclines, and climbing promote cardiovascular fitness and endurance.
  • Emotional: Being in natural surroundings can help you obtain a different perspective on any problems you may currently be dealing with or worrying about.
  • Social: Soul experiences often include feelings of being connected to others. Hiking with a group can provide social benefits that enhance or promote benefits for your soul.
  • Spiritual: Hiking can help you connect with your idea of the Divine. You become aware of your soul's intention to connect with something larger than itself by sensing the majesty and wonder of nature.
