2026 Thurston County Hunger Walk on May 3

 

June
June 20 to Nisqually National Wildlife Refuge, 100 Brown Farm Rd NE, Olympia, WA 98516.
Meet at the visitor center entrance at 10 am.  We will walk about 3 miles or more, walking on the boardwalk and on gravel paths, hopefully the to the estuary observation deck and then return to the visitor center.  We will go at a leisurely pace to see wildlife.  Bring binoculars if you have them.  Some of the trail is forested but a lot is open, so bring a hat/ sunscreen , water and snack.
There are bathrooms at the visitor center but NOT on the trail.
NO DOGS - they are prohibited on the entire refuge, so do not bring them at all.
You must purchase a day use pass at the visitor center entrance- bring cash or check , NO credit cards.   Or you can use any of the America the Beautiful passes.  A discover pass will NOT work. Not a hiker? No problem! Feel free to come along even if you prefer not to hike. Bring a foldable chair, soak in the natural beauty, and enjoy the company. We simply ask that everyone use the buddy system—no one should be alone.
