Unity Soles Hiking Group: A Journey for Body, Mind, and Soul

When: Saturday March 28th at 10:00am  

What to bring: dress for the weather.  Boardwalk can be slippery when wet, so wear appropriate footwear. Binoculars nice but optional. Bring some water, a snack if desired.  Dogs allowed on leash. 

Where:  4.3 miles • 39 ft gain • 1–1.5 hours • Out & Back Billy Frank Jr. Nisqually National Wildlife Refuge 100 Brown Farm Rd NE, Olympia, WA 98516

A gorgeous, easy walk through tree groves, salt marshes, and along a tidal river. Wildlife viewing varies with the tides, and boardwalks may be slippery after rain. Bring binoculars, a hat, and water.

Accessibility: Wheelchair-, stroller-, and mobility‑device friendly. Four van‑accessible parking spaces available. Trail is gravel or boardwalk, at least 4 ft wide, and estimated at 1% grade or less. Benches are available along the Nisqually Estuary Boardwalk.

Notes:  Fee required / America the Beautiful Pass accepted, Dogs not allowed, Kid‑friendly, Parking is limited—carpool recommended

Next Hike:

When: Saturday April 4 (day before Easter), meet under the covered picnic area for a 10 am start.  

What to bring: dress for the weather.  Boardwalk can be slippery when wet, so wear appropriate footwear. Binoculars nice but optional. Bring some water, a snack if desired.  Dogs allowed on leash. 

Where:  McClane Creek Nature Trail.  Park in the second parking lot at the end of the road.  5044 Delphi Road SW, Olympia WA. A DISCOVER PASS IS REQUIRED TO PARK. Carpooling encouraged.
 
What we will do: We will walk along the trails and boardwalks for about 1-1.5 miles, stopping and looking for birds in the wetlands.  This is an easy and slow walk through wetlands, forest, and beaver pond.

Optional lunch after:  For those that wish to, we will meet at Stone Creek Wood Fired Pizza at 11:30 am for lunch.  If you don’t wish to go on the hike, please join us for lunch.  4138 Harrison Avenue NW, Olympia.
