What is spiritual direction/companioning?
In a simple phrase it is “Holy Listening”.
The spiritual director and directee (the person seeking direction) meet seeking guidance from the Spirit within, through deep listening and reflective questions.
This ancient practice has foundations in most major religions and dates back to early mystics and monastics. The Catholic church brought it to our western civilization, where it has grown roots in Judaism, Buddhism, and recently in the New Thought movement. Unity Worldwide Spiritual Institute is now training spiritual directors in a two year certification program. . . .
