One of my earliest memories from when I was about 3 years old, was waking up one morning and thinking, ‘here I am again.’ Since then, I have been drawn to discovering who and/or what was the awareness that noticed I was ‘here again.’ My preacher grandfather and uncle seemed wise in the mysteries of God, yet couldn’t answer the hard questions such as ‘why did God speak to people in the Bible, but not to people today?’ And no answer to the question of who or what was aware of ‘here I am again.’
My journey has moved from being an agnostic, seeking answers in the arts (being a founding board member of a theatre group as well as acting and directing), going into group therapy, working Adult Children of Alcoholics and Survivors of Incest Anonymous 12 Step programs, being initiated into a Vietnamese Buddhist tradition, and eventually finding Unity. After discovering Christ Unity Church in Sacramento, CA, I volunteered as an usher for 14 years (12 as a team leader), served 5 years on the board of directors (3 as Secretary), and was active in the Christ Unity Men’s group (later the Authentic Men’s Group). Through all of this, I have come to deeper experience and understanding of who that awareness is, and yes, here I am again.
